Missing pastor’s wife to sue cops ahead of 3rd anniversary of abduction

11th Feb 2020

PETALING JAYA: The wife of missing pastor Raymond Koh will be filing a civil suit against the police, ahead of the third anniversary of his abduction by a group of men in broad daylight here on Feb 13, 2017.

The suit by Susanna Liew comes some four months after a similar suit was filed by Norhayati Mohd Ariffin, the wife of Perlis-based activist Amri Che Mat, who has been missing since December 2016.

Both men have been declared as victims of enforced disappearance by the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam), who said they were abducted by the police Special Branch.

Susanna will hold a press conference tomorrow to reveal details of her suit.

In November, Norhayati filed a claim against former home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former police chiefs Khalid Abu Bakar and Fuzi Harun, and a former head of a Special Branch division, Awaludin Jadid.

Suhakam will conduct another public inquiry next month into the disappearance of pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth Hilmy.

Joshua, a Malay Muslim who converted to Christianity, and Ruth were last seen on Nov 30, 2016.
