I have fresh hope now, says Pastor Koh’s wife
KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of Pastor Raymond Koh, Susanna Liew, today said she had been given new hope following the decision by the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) to resume the inquiry into her husband’s disappearance.
She said she had also found fresh hope from the formation of the Pakatan Harapan federal government, which had promised to strengthen human rights in the country.
“I hope now with the new government that the investigation documents will not be put under the Official Secrets Act anymore, and I hope Raymond, Amri Che Mat, Joshua and Ruth Hilmy will be released soon,” she said, referring to three others who are also missing.
“I also hope the new home minister will take the matter seriously and expedite the investigation,” she said at the Suhakam headquarters here.
Liew also expressed concern for Amri’s wife, Norhayati Mohd Ariffin, who claimed earlier today that she had been told by a police informer that her husband and Koh were taken by a team from Bukit Aman.
“I’m concerned for Norhayati as I heard the police visited her home following the new twist to the case.
“I hope the police in this latest twist will not be protected. I pray to be united with Raymond soon,” she added.
Liew said she had fresh hope following the order for the inquiry to resume and following the formation of the new federal government.
