Raymond Koh: 300 Days Missing
A Message from the Koh Family
Today marks the 300th day since Pastor Raymond Koh’s abduction on 13th February 2017. Even as we begin the Advent season to celebrate and joyously remember Our Lord’s birth, we also have prepared ourselves as a family potentially to mark our first Christmas without Raymond. Our one and only wish this Christmas is for Raymond, our husband, father and friend, to return home to celebrate Jesus’ birth together as a family.
Still, even in our broken-heartedness, we have been blessed with the comfort and support given to us over these 300 days that have helped strengthen our resolve as a family to not lose hope and faith.
The Koh family is deeply grateful to SUHAKAM, the lawyers, advisors, SUARAM, CAGED and all organisations and individuals who have advocated for Raymond and others who also have disappeared in similar circumstances: Amri Che Mat, Joshua Hilmi and his wife Ruth Sitepu. In our shared journey in seeking truth and justice, we are also grateful for those in the media who have kept the story of Raymond, Amri, Joshua and Ruth alive in public attention.
We are especially comforted by the call from the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) to all churches in Malaysia to mark today with prayers for Raymond and for us, his family. We humbly ask that these prayers also be extended to our missing brothers and sister Amri, Joshua and Ruth, and for their loved ones.
God comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with that same comfort we receive from Him. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
Raymond would want everyone to bring joy, love and hope to those who need it most. This Christmas, let us remember Raymond by striving to be comforters, even as we so badly need comfort.
May God bless Malaysia.
